Tour Overview

This evening kayaking tour offers a unique way to experience Split's coastline and nearby river after the heat of the day has passed. You will meet at a central location in Split, then be transferred by van to Stobreč campsite beach, which is away from the busy Split center. Here you will be introduced to kayaking by a certified trainer, get familiar with the equipment, and receive a safety briefing before setting out on the water.

As evening approaches, you will paddle in illuminated transparent kayaks toward the Žrnovnica River, leaving the beach behind as nighttime begins. As you lose the lights from Stobreč and enter the river, the lights beneath your kayak will start to appear, creating a magical effect. Navigating through the calm river, the lights from your fellow paddlers will paint the riverbed in beautiful colors, making it easy to see the underwater landscape.

After paddling a short distance through the Žrnovnica River, you will return to the open sea. The busily lit shore will start to appear as you paddle toward white rocks and cliffs where locals have built their houses. The tour leads outside the bay to a small beach where you can explore the seabed and enjoy the view under the starry sky before paddling back to the starting point and being transferred back to Split.

Typical Itinerary

1. Meeting point in Split - Meet at Prilaz Braće Kaliterna 1, opposite Hotel Briig, where a gray van covered in kayak stickers or a white Peugeot Traveller will pick you up.
2. Van transfer to Stobreč - Travel by van for about 20 minutes to Stobreč campsite beach, away from the busy Split center, where the kayaking portion begins.
3. Walk to campsite beach - Walk for about 5 minutes from the van drop off point to the campsite beach where kayaks and equipment are prepared.
4. Safety briefing and instruction - Receive a 15 minute safety briefing and basic kayak instruction from a certified trainer, getting familiar with the equipment and paddling techniques.
5. Kayaking toward Žrnovnica River - Set out in illuminated transparent kayaks, gliding toward the Žrnovnica River as evening approaches and the lights beneath your kayak begin to appear.
6. River exploration - Navigate through the calm Žrnovnica River, watching the lights from fellow paddlers paint the riverbed in beautiful colors as you explore the underwater landscape.
7. Return to open sea - Paddle back out to the Adriatic Sea, watching the busily lit Split shoreline appear as you move toward white rocks and cliffs.
8. Coastal exploration - Paddle along the coastline, seeing houses built on white rocks and cliffs, and heading outside the bay toward a small beach.
9. Beach stop and seabed exploration - Arrive at a small beach outside the bay, explore the seabed with your illuminated kayak, and enjoy the view under the starry sky.
10. Return paddle and transfer - Paddle back to the starting point at Stobreč campsite beach, then transfer by van back to the original meeting point in Split.

• Double clear kayak maximum weight limit is 230 kilograms, so please inform us if you have concerns about weight capacity.
• Bring swimwear, a change of clothes, a towel, water, and insect repellent. For low season tours, bring a long sleeve upper garment as it can get cooler in the evening.
• You will get wet during the kayaking, so bring a change of clothes and a towel for after the tour.
